How did this new album and overall concept for it come about, and what are your ultimate goals with it?

Well to start out the title track “Table for 2” was completely written but had no name. When we played it back it made me feel like I was anticipating something to be exited about, like getting ready to go on a date. Most people go out to restaurants and that’s where the term came from, a restaurant reservation book would say "2" as in “Table for 2”.

The producer Chris “Big Dog” Davis and I wanted to make sure that the record was a true reflection of what kind of player and person I really am, and let it come through the music. I love melody and to play it w/passion was a must. I’m really a romantic at heart so expressing these melodies was something very natural to me.

My ultimate goals with it are for everyone in the world to enjoy it! Perhaps it can be a great stepping stone for future recordings and fans.

Who are some of your current favorite artists, Smooth Jazz or otherwise?

There are so many. My ultimate favorite live performer is Patty Labelle. I’ve seen her numerous times and she literally makes me cry tears of joy when I hear her.

Another is Bonnie Raitt. She is the song and is so natural and her voice has the most incredible tone & cadence. I also love her. I also love Rock & Roll singers like Lou Graham from Foreigner. To me he is one of the best Rock voices ever. As far as sax players Gerald Albright is undoubtedly the King of all instrumentalists!

Outside of your musical career, what else in your life gets you excited and fulfilled?

Spending a day at the beach with my wife and son, riding waves and then going out to eat at one of our favorite restaurants!

What would you define as the most life-changing event so far in your musical career?

Watching so many people line up to buy my CD at an event. I knew I had something to give musically after I saw that. It made me believe that I can make music a career and the sky is the limit. Music is a God given talent and such an incredible gift and by seeing this God is telling me to keep playing music.

How would you finish this sentence? “I don’t like to go a day without_________?

Praying and talking to God. I couldn’t survive without him. God is my strength and my vindicator.

Going back in your life as far as you can remember, what song or performance is the first you recall hearing and being affected by?

The sax solo by Don Myreck in “Reasons” by Earth Wind & Fire. Gives me the chills right now thinking about it, it’s so expressive and made me really want to play sax. I have listened to it over and over and over. That song is what saxophone is all about to me, great tone and melodic expression.

What’s your favorite non-music activity?

Coaching Baseball for the kids. I love baseball and you can really have such an important affect on a young kid. To see results in helping kids and teaching them about life and baseball is very satisfying. Playing Golf is right up there too!
