You're a native of Israel, and that's where you started playing guitar professionally. Is there one song… one performance you heard as a child… that stands out as life-changing from the standpoint of deeply felt inspiration?
I remember myself staring at the television each and every time I saw someone performing. Even the most simplest tune amazed me, always looked what they are doing with the right and the left hand. I was really mesmerized by it and asked my self how can they do it!
How did the guitar end up being your instrument of choice?
Since I can remember myself, I've always wanted to play the guitar. When my father bought me my first guitar at the age of 13, I knew right a way that this is what I'm going to do for the rest of my life. I really like everything about it; the sound, the shape, the way it feels on your body, the advantages and the disadvantages composing with it.
What aspect or aspects of your new album, "Smooth Jazz Tales," do you find the most satisfying to you personally?
That I have finally finished recording and produced it! (joking) I'm very pleased that I could capture all my emotions and thoughts and be able to put it in each and every song of my CD. Each song has a story behind it and a memory from my life.
What artists do you feel akin to or in the same tribe with?
There are really too many for me to write about but a lot of them will be from the Fusion genre, like Michel Cusson (UZEB) and Greg Howe.
I really like the energy in Rock music and the harmony complexity in Jazz music and in Fusion I can enjoy both worlds in the same composition.
What’s your favorite non-music activity?
Walking! I find it very relaxing for the soul and brain, especially after long day in the studio or practice. This is also a perfect time to analyze all the things that you have done that day and think about you next steps.
If you could live anywhere in the world you wanted, regardless of professional necessity, where would that be?
I would have to say NYC or LA ! I've always liked big cites and the bigger the better. There is something about the energy and to be surrounded by a lot of people that really inspires me.
Also the feeling of "never ending opportunities" is a great thing for me.
I even composed a tune called "City Lights" which will be included in my next album.
