What was the first song you can remember being pivotal in your life?

MARY: For me it was "Livin' For The City" by Stevie Wonder. I was 10 years old and my parents gave me a transistor radio for Christmas. It was the first song I tuned into!

CRAIG: For me it was the first dance at our wedding,"Another One Bites the Dust!" Ha Ha, just kidding. "Bull Funk" by Brandon Fields.

MARY: DORK!

What is the absolute most exciting thing about recording your music?

MARY: When somebody communicates back that it meant something like.... the music is fun! .... or perhaps that they were even touched deeply by it.

CRAIG: Capturing the right kind of sound sonically with the vocals, piano and saxophones.

What is your all-time favorite vacation destination?

MARY: Hmmmmmm... Vacation? In 21 years we've only taken one - 3 day - vacation and it wasn't one we'd call favorite! I guess I'd have to think back to my childhood?.... With my family in a little pink travel trailer parked on a big hill in Michigan and there were Tornado warnings!

CRAIG: Probably the hospital. As a kid, my summer breaks always seemed to end up there. (Bike accident with reconstructive surgery on my mouth, two surgeries on my eye that was blown up with a firecracker, broken collar bone (twice), etc....) I'm glad they didn't have A.D.D. around when I was a kid, now I'm just considered an adult with a lot of Energy!

When you're 2AZZ1 and not just Craig & Mary, what's a day in the life of the band like?

1) Prayin' together every morning regarding all of our gigs and people we work with ....
2) Call radio stations, gig contacts (club managers .... etc), who we need to follow up with.
3) Update the website calendar daily so people know where we are and what we're up to.
4) Keep our mailing list updated with our friends who faithfully come to hear us.
5) Make sure musicians are hired and their calendar is solid with us. Most of all.... having fun with them.
6) Write, Arrange and record music to be ready for "whatever" via our home studio(s) and practice spaces....
7) Drive Drive Drive to the next gig!
8) Set up equipment!
9) Play our instruments and enjoy people.
10) Tear down and pray that there's no construction on the freeways at 12 am in the morning on the drive home... which there often is in LA.

Is there another genre of music you would enjoy producing and/or performing?

MARY: Besides smooth jazz, we've produced Gospel, Rock and Country CD's for other artists. I think classical would be fun since that's what I play better than anything.

CRAIG: We also write for television and just finished Good Housekeeping's Makeover Miracle special (to be shown on 80% of the syndicated television markets).

And now, for a change of pace, what was the last movie you watched? And would you recommend it to your fans?

END OF THE SPEAR. This movie is great and a testament of "peace."
